Know before you Show: Clipping Clinic at Manitoba AG EX 2022

September 26, 2022

It’s important to make a good first impression. And when it comes to showing cattle, it matters even more. That’s why Manitoba AG EX 2022 is thrilled to present a Clipping Clinic, free of charge – during the afternoon of opening day, Wednesday, October 26 from 12:30 to 2:00pm. AG EX runs from Wednesday, October 26 to Saturday, October 29 in Brandon.

Leading the Clipping Clinic will be Justin Morrison, owner/operator of Brooking Angus Ranch in Saskatchewan. Morrison is an expert. He knows what it takes to make the animal stand out – whether it’s for a judge at a show, or buyers at a sale. “The Clipping Clinic will be geared towards kids, but everyone is welcome. I’m planning a full grooming and clipping demonstration to show proper techniques with an explanation each step of the way. The hair on the whole body must be clean, smooth, shiny, and have a fluffy look. I will show them how.”

Dallas Johnston, Chairman of Manitoba AG EX 2022 approached Justin Morrison because of his expertise, “Justin is well-known and does such a great job of presenting cattle and getting them to look their best. Justin agreed it would be a good idea to hold a clinic for the youth, even those in 4-H, to help them improve their showing skills.”

Morrison adds it’s like dressing up for a wedding. When an animal looks its best, pride in ownership takes the lead, “In a show where there are up to 100 animals, a judge only has so much time to look at each one. That’s why it’s up to the competitor to put their best foot – and hoof forward.”
