Brandon, MB. – The Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba is excited to announce that Manitoba recording artists “Doc Walker” will headline the 2024 President’s Dinner at the Victoria Inn.
The annual Gala, scheduled for Thursday, February 22nd, is one of Brandon’s most prestigious and well-attended formal evenings, developed in support of agriculture awareness.
Tickets to the event are $120 or $960 (plus GST) for a table of eight and can be reserved by calling the Provincial Exhibition office at (204) 726-3590.
Originally from Westbourne, Manitoba, Doc Walker appeared on the country music scene back in the early nineties. It was fronted by singer/guitarist Chris Thorsteinson and began working weddings, socials, and parties. Soon, he recruited childhood friend Dave Wasyliw, and the pair quickly established a formidable songwriting partnership that has earned a Juno Award, fourteen Canadian Country Music Association Awards, 21 Top 10 Canadian country radio singles, eight #1 CMT videos, and millions of streams.
“We always feel that country music can have some ‘meat on the bones’ as it is a genre heavily rooted in real-life experiences, trials, and tribulations,” says Wasyliw.
That attitude has played a big part in Doc Walker’s longevity, along with an overall drive to explore new musical approaches to keep their sound fresh.
“We just can’t pretend to be something we are not,” says Wasyliw. “We can’t wait to show the fans (in Brandon) what we’ve been up to.”
“We’re so excited to have Doc Walker highlighting the Dinner this year,” says Greg Crisanti, Chair of the President’s Dinner. “In addition to an excellent dinner, auction, and prizes, this year’s event promises to be one of the best ever…hope to see a great crowd out for a fantastic evening.”
The Dinner is an excellent opportunity for Western Manitoba’s business and agriculture community to not only support the industry but also to gather and socialize with customers and friends.
The President’s Dinner is one of four annual events hosted by the Provincial Exhibition each year. The others include the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair (March), the Manitoba Summer Fair (June), and Manitoba AG EX (October).
