Edmonton, AB. – The General Manager of the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Fairs and Exhibitions.
Mark Humphries was appointed to a three year term at the CAFÉ’s Annual General Meeting in Edmonton. As well, Provincial Exhibition President Kathy Cleaver was named to the Board as a Volunteer Member.
The meetings were held in the Alberta capital as part of this week’s CAFÉ Annual Conference, that brought staff and directors from numerous fairs and exhibitions, including the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba, for a week of meetings, seminars and workshops.
The CAFÉ board is made up of staff and volunteers from across the country, as well as a representative of the provincial associations and service member groups.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Humphries moved to Canada sixteen years ago and has been operating a greenhouse and small farm near Elkhorn.
He joined the Provincial Exhibition in September 2022, filling the GM’s position that had been vacant for two years and has been the driving force behind some of the changes made to recent events, including Manitoba AG EX and the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair.
Cleaver meanwhile has been an active member of the Provincial Exhibition Board for several years and was the recipient of the CAFÉ Roll of Honour in 2020. She’s currently in her second year as President of the Exhibition.
The Canadian Association of Fairs and Exhibitions exists to provide member organizations with a united voice, programs and tools to spur the kind of open collaboration, shared learning and coordinated action that a vibrant sector needs to thrive.
The CAFÉ’s annual Conference wraps up Friday night.
