Brandon, MB – June 3, 2025 – The Manitoba Summer Fair, a cherished tradition in Western Manitoba for over 135 years, is set to take place from June 4–8, 2025, at the Keystone Centre Grounds in Brandon. In response to the ongoing wildfires in northern Manitoba, which have led to the evacuation of numerous communities, the Provincial Exhibition is introducing several initiatives to support those affected.
Summer Fair Cares, Supporting Our Fellow Manitobans
In collaboration with North American Midway Entertainment, the Keystone Centre, United Way Brandon & District, Elspeth Reid Family Resource Centre, and the Canadian Red Cross in Brandon, the Manitoba Summer Fair is proud to launch Summer Fair Cares, an initiative focused on offering relief to evacuees.
Tim Rowan, Co-Chair of the Manitoba Summer Fair and Vice President of the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba, shares:
“In times of hardship, we’re reminded of the power of community. The Manitoba Summer Fair stands together with fellow Manitobans, showing our kind Canadian way of supporting one another. These initiatives are a small part of what we can do to help, and we encourage everyone to contribute to the effort.”
Gregg (Scooter) Korek, from North American Midway Entertainment, adds:
“The community spirit is what makes Manitoba so special. At North American Midway, we’re proud to partner with the Manitoba Summer Fair to support their neighbors during this difficult time. We’re excited to give back and help make the fair experience even more meaningful for everyone.”
Connie Lawrence, CEO & General Manager at the Keystone Centre, shares:
“During these challenging times, it’s more important than ever to come together and show our Manitoba hospitality. Whether it’s something as simple as offering a ride to a family in need, donating items, or providing monetary support if you are able, every little bit counts. The Manitoba Summer Fair is a time to celebrate community, and we’re proud to do our part in helping those who need it most. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by the wildfires.”
Donation Drive
Recognizing the urgent needs of evacuees who left their homes with little to no belongings, the Manitoba Summer Fair will be accepting donations throughout the duration of the Fair.
- Drop-off Location: At Guest Services near the Dome Building, inside the Manitoba Summer Fair grounds.
- Accepted Items: New or gently used clothing for all ages, healthy non-perishable snacks, summer clothing for adults, children, and babies, toiletries, strollers.
- Distribution: All donations will be delivered directly to the Red Cross site assisting evacuees in Brandon.
Support for Evacuees
To provide some relief and enjoyment during these challenging times, the Fair is offering a $5 discount on wristbands and gate admissions to individuals evacuated due to the wildfires. Evacuees can avail of this discount by providing their postal code at the entrance. While verification will not be stringent, this measure aims to ensure the offer reaches those in genuine need.
Join Us in Making a Difference
The Manitoba Summer Fair invites all attendees to participate in these initiatives, embodying the spirit of community and compassion. By coming together, we can provide meaningful support to our fellow Manitobans during this crisis.
